Big Day in Port Aransas Rockport on Redfish Blackdrum, July 2020
My brother Duc and family from Kansas visit us in Port Aransas and we go fishing at Rockport for Redfish and Blackdrum. They are bass fishermen who are well versed in catching bass. But nothing fights like a redfish, right? Let's see if they agree after this trip. Caitlin is an 11 year old fishing phenom. She ended up catching over half the fish, many were oversized bull reds. But we managed to bring home about 23 reds and blackdrum for dinner and future dinners.
We had such a blast on the boat fishing alongside Trent, Barbara and friends. Using technology, we are able to track down schools of reds and blackdrum; and drop live shrimp on top of them. This goes down as one of my biggest days on the water with non-stop doubles (dubo dubo) and a few triples.
With a few simple techniques, you too can have big days on the water. Yes, it requires some work, getting the latest technology, and a process; but if I can have more days like this, I'm willing to spend! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the video.

How we won the Powder Puffs Tournament June 2020, Port Aransas Fishing Redfish, Black Drum, Trout
Переглядів 5404 роки тому
This is the first tournament we've fished together. I show you how we all worked together to catch big redfish, black drum, and some speckled trout. As you'll see from the video, some anglers did not have much experience; but they were willing to learn how to fish, and most importantly, how to bring in big fish with patience and good technique. We use light tackle (12lb Nanofil line) on med lig...

It's summertime and the saltwater at Port Aransas is on fire. Black drum and redfish are schooled up. We're getting ready for the Woody's Powderpuffs tournament; so we're just out here looking for fish to make sure we can catch them. Using freelined live shrimp, we cast into the schools with light tackle and bring in some descent fish for dinner. Hope you enjoyed the video and get something use...
Thumping for Whitebass Belton Lake Garmin Livescope May 2020
Переглядів 2 тис.4 роки тому
It's a post cold front day in May 2020. I show minute by minute video of how thumping brings the fish under the boat, only to find out they're not interested in what we have to offer. Even more frustrating is seeing them on Livescope playing with the lures, but being non-committal. You'll see pretty cool footage of an underwater bridge with fish all over it; again, nothing taking. Arghhhh! We o...

It's been 5 weeks since the lockdown and this is the first trip since. I just wanted to go catch some whitebass after the spawn. So, as always, I go to creek bends, humps and points, and intersections. I look around anywhere from 25 to 50 feet and find them in 45 feet. It was just good to get out and catch some fish with a group of us working together to find them. On this video, I turn the thu...

How to use Livescope to catch picky Crappie, Lake Somerville, January 2020
Переглядів 2,2 тис.4 роки тому
Today, we go to Somerville to scout out some brush piles. Main objective was to find some structure for later use and to see what depth they're holding. The Crappie were holding tight inside the brushpiles and we needed to be right top of them, going inside those piles to catch them. While fishing for Crappie, if we see a hybrid or whitebass come by on the Livescope screen, we lifted our baits ...

We learned something new today on Townlake in Austin. We noticed on Livescope that balls of bait were being chased by schools of aggressive fish. By sitting back away from the schools of bait, we were able to cast into them to catch them. Without Livescope, it would have ju...

Since owning my Garmin Livescope system, I've stopped using 2D side imaging and sonar systems. In this video, I show you why. Have you ever marked a brushpile on 2D, only to idle around for 5-10 minutes trying to figure out where in the heck it is. Worse yet, you think you're on top of it, and if it's small enough you're not even fishing on top of it? That used to happen to me all the time; it ...

I'm not much of a Crappie fisherman, but thought I'd employ the basics of breaking down a lake to find brushpiles and structure for Crappie. I have created a GPX file from the Lowrance app. Put it on an SD card, file showed fine. In HDS 10 Gen 2 it imported, complete. But does not show any changes to either the base map or the Navionics map. What do you suggest I try? Perhaps the Gen 2 is too old?

It's not too old. The one I have is a gen2. try something very simple, like one GPS file from google Earth. Import that to see if that works. If it does, then it could be something with the Lowrance App.
